Why do Satsang?
How is Lord Krisha attracted by Satsang or sadhu-sang?
na rodhayati mam yogo na sankhyam dharma eva ca na svadhyayas tapas tyago nesta-purttam na daksina vratani yajnas chandamsi tirthani niyama yamah yathavarundhe sat-sangah sarva-sangapaho hi mam
Srimad Bhagavatam Puran (11th Canto 12th Chapter 1-2 verses)
Sri Bhagavan said, “I am not controlled by those who perform yoga, study sankhya philosophy, perform religious duties and pious activities, study the Vedas, perform penances and austerities, practice renunciation or accept sannyasa, perform sacrifice and welfare activities, give donations in charity, practice fasting and other vows, perform yajna, chant confidential mantras, go on pilgrimage, and follow all the rules and regulations for spiritual life. However, one who accepts sat-sanga, which destroys all material attachments, can control Me. How much can I say? Astanga-yoga can slightly satisfy Me indirectly, but sadhu-sanga controls Me completely.”
Satsang-marg: spiritual knowledge in digestible form
Listening is the first service towards the param-atma or ishvara as per Srimad Bhagvatam maha Puran and that is why listening to spiritual lectures is considered a great service towards the Supreme tattva.
The Vedic Rishis were prolific writers. They were spiritual scientists who researched levels of consciousness and the eternal truths of cosmic existence. Foreseeing the fate of human race and defects of Kali Yug, Maharshi Ved Vyas compiled Vedic scriptures (Veds, 108 Upanishads, 18 Purans, Itihas – Ramayan & Mahabharat) for fostering devotion, faith, discrimination, and self-knowledge for removing ignorance in human race.
learning through listening
Satsang-Marg aspires to bridge this gap by making audio mp3s content available, so as to make this spiritual journey easier for aspirants. The Audio mp3s are recordings of enlightening spiritual discourses from bona-fide Acharyas of Vedic/Hindu traditions. The talks are conversational in nature, and therefore easy to follow, but the purport is deep and eye-opening. The Gurus use detailed examples and allegories from day to day life to help us realize eternal truths.
With the advancement of multimedia and world wide web, audio mp3s can be easily absorbed while doing different activities. Considerable effort has been put in to improve the audio quality of the mp3s. The idea is to have an open-source collection of such audios for the betterment of Human race.
knowledge is forever..
Shri Krishna also says in Gita:
A Gyan-Yogi’s efforts are never wasted. O Arjun, in the later birth, one is always re-united with one’s previous knowledge. In each birth, by striving more and more, one achieves perfection. Hence, be a Yogi.
